Cross Border Electricity Summit

Vice Prime Minister/Minister of Energy of Georgia Kakha Kaladze and USAID Caucasus Mission Director Douglas Boil opened the Cross Border Electricity Summit on May 31. Aim of the summit is to review the reforms ongoing in energy sector of Georgia and to share international experience related to electricity trade.

Sulkhan Zumburidze, Chairman of the Management Board of GSE, participated in this summit and spoke about the work performed by GSE in relation to establishment of system services in Georgia and development of system service concept. All types of ancillary services that need to be established in Georgia in order to increase electricity supply quality and reliability, to improve loss compensation mechanisms and in order to create electricity market were also discussed during the summit.

System service is one of the most significant instruments supporting creation of specific market, investment attraction and increase of electricity supply quality and reliability.
