Meeting within the Framework of “Akhaltsikhe-Batumi” PTL Construction Project
On 20-21 March, the meeting was held within the framework of “Akhaltsikhe-Batumi” PTL construction project in Batumi. The meeting was attended by the representatives of GSE, contractor company KEC, supervisory consultant company Intec GOPA and AGL.
The purpose of the meeting was the construction process of 220KV “Akhaltsikhe-Batumi” double circuit transmission line which is the main component of “Transmission Grid Strengthening Project” funded by World Bank. The project is being implemented by GSE and it comprises the construction of approx. 145 km long 22O KV Akhaltsikhe-Batumi double circuit power transmission Line from “Akhaltsikhe” 550/400/220 KV substation to Batumi 220KV Substation.
The management team of GSE together with foreign guests visited the construction site and discussed the issues related to the geological survey, access road arrangement as well as demarcation-taxation issues.
“The construction of this line is of great importance for the country’s energy system. After implementation of the project, the system will have backup line connecting to Batumi substation. As a result, the new line will improve the reliability and quality of Southwest network power supply where an important Black Sea port and touristic resort is located”- stated Sulkhan Zumburidze, the chairman of Management Board of GSE.
The project will be completed by 2018.
