Georgian State Electrosystem Signed 90 Million Euro Agreement
An agreement worth 90 million Euros has been signed between Georgia and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) within the framework of the Energy Network Improvement Programme (ENIP). The document was signed by the Minister of Finance of Georgia Ivane Machavariani, the Regional Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Catarina Bjorlin Hansen and the Chairman of the Management Board of Georgian State Electrosystem Ucha Uchaneishvili. Important energy projects will be implemented by the Georgian State Electrosystem throughout the country.
The project includes construction of overhead transmission lines in Svaneti, Nenskra-Mestia, Lajanuri-Tskaltubo, Namakhvani-Tskaltubo and Namakhvani-Tvishi-Lajanuri. Herewith, 500kv Nenskra substation construction work will be carried out under the project.
The implementation of this project will strengthen the country's energy system, enhance energy independence and security. As a result, a stable and reliable transmission system will be established, which will facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources with the grid and increase the exchange of electricity with the neighboring countries.
