Regional Working Group’s Regular Meeting of the Armenia-Georgia Transmission Network Planning Project
Representatives of Georgian State Electrosystem participated in the working meeting of the Regional Group on Armenia-Georgia Transmission Network Planning Project, held in Odessa.
The meeting, which was attended by representatives of the relevant regulatory commission in addition to the transmission system operators of the two countries, presented the initial report of the Armenia-Georgia Interconnection Economic Analysis. The main models of the study were reconciled, the data needed for the full implementation of the study were specified and further measures planned. A seminar on modeling using the ANTARES program was also held with the participation of staff working on the planning issues of the transmission grid of Georgian State Electrosystem and the Power System Operator.
The Armenia-Georgia Transmission Network Planning Project is being implemented with the organizational and financial support of the US Energy Association (USEA) and USAID and is the part of the Black Sea Regional Transmission System Planning Project. The purpose of the project is to investigate the potential of exchange of electricity backup capacities and increase of trade in between Armenian and Georgian energy systems.
