Georgian State Electrosystem Certified Transmission System Operator
By the decision of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission of April 1, 2021, Georgian State Electrosystem was certified as a transmission system operator.
Certification defines compliance of the transmission system operator with the independence and unbundling requirements. Following the decision, the National Energy and Water Regulatory Commission of Georgia will be the supervisor.
In the next stage, the National Energy and Water Regulatory Commission of Georgia must authorize a certified transmission system operator. Since the license is granted, Georgian State Electrosystem will be the only transmission system operator in Georgia.
Implementation of the first large-scale energy reform, which by sharing the best practices of EU standards will strengthen Georgian power grid, will enhance reliable and secure operation of power system.
