Under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, joint working meetings of energy companies were held on February 18-20, the main purpose of which was to discuss current issues related to the establishment of new market relations in the field of electricity, exchange of information and plan strategic steps. Participants in the meetings were: Davit Narmania, Chairman of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission, Davit Tvalabeishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Ucha Uchaneishvili, Chairman of the Management Board of Georgian State Electrosystem, Heads of the Electricity Market Operator and Georgian Energy Exchange.

The main tasks and main aspects of the balancing and ancillary services market, cross-border trade issues and the possibility of maximum growth of Georgia's electricity generation in the conditions of the modern energy market were discussed at the working meetings.

As part of the ongoing reform in the energy sector, the Georgian State Electrosystem should ensure operation of balancing and ancillary services market by sharing the best practices of EU standards, creating an open competitive market, enabling an attractive investment climate and allowing consumers to choose freely.
