Elering Representative Visited Georgian State Electrosystem
Marie Kalmet, a representative of the Estonian transmission system operator (Elering), visited the Georgian State Electrosystem to share balancing market management experience.
At the workshop, Georgian and Estonian counterparts discussed the current state of electricity transmission grids in Georgia and Estonia, current issues related to the establishment of new market relations, ongoing projects and future strategic steps. Marie Kalmet shared the electricity market operation experience of the Estonian transmission system operator with the GSE staff. Talks focused on integration of variable energy sources into the grid, dispatch control and development of the electricity market in the Baltic States.
Organized market in Georgia will be launched soon, it implies the establishment of a competitive market, an attractive investment environment and free choice for consumers. Within the framework of the ongoing reform in the energy sector, the balancing and ancillary services market will be operated by the Georgian State Electrosystem.
