Kick-off Meeting Regarding the Construction of 110 kV Overhead Transmission Line Stori HPP-New Telavi within ENIP Framework
On October 25 2023, at the Georgian State Electrosystem head office, a kick-off meeting with representatives of GSE, contractor company Mitas Energy and Metal Construction Inc and International Consultant Fichtner GmbH was held within the framework of the Energy Network Improvement Programme (ENIP).
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the construction of the 110 kV power transmission line StoriHPP- New Telavi and the projects of looping into the New Telavi substation of the 110kV power plant Ikalto.The financing of this project with a contract value of EUR 12,5 million is provided by KfW Development Bank on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Representatives of GSE and Mitas Energy, with participation of the International Consultant, discussed the details necessary for the next stages of the Project and for timely completion of the Project in January 2026. They talked about the importance of implementing infrastructure projects in Kakheti region, which will significantly increase the stability of the power transmission network and improve the electric power capacity in Eastern Georgia.
The project will be implemented within the framework of Energy Network Improvement Programme (ENIP). Total investment of ENIP program includes funding from the German Government through KfW, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and a grant from the European Neighborhood Investment Platform (NIP), with the total investment of EUR 270 Mln. The infrastructure components of ENIP are located across all of Georgia. Under ENIP, more than 561 km of transmission lines and 5 substations will be constructed and extended.
