GSE is Constructing New Ozurgeti-Paliastomi Power Transmission Line
Georgian State Electrosystem implements infrastructure projects throughout Georgia within the framework of the Energy Network Improvement Program (ENIP).
The program includes the Guria project, which involves building a new substation and power transmission lines Ozurgeti-Zoti and Ozurgeti-Paliastomi in Ozurgeti. The construction of the 220 kV power transmission line Ozurgeti-Paliastomi is currently actively being carried out by the contractor company Mitas Energy and Metal Construction Inc.
The mentioned transmission line will link the Ozurgeti substation to the existing Paliastomi transmission line. This connection will enable the integration of electricity generated from renewable energy sources into the grid, enhance the transmission infrastructure in Guria and Adjara regions, and improve the capacity and reliability of the transmission network.
The construction of the 220 kV power transmission line Ozurgeti-Paliastomi commenced in 2023, with completion scheduled for 2024.
ENIP is an extensive investment programme into Georgia’s transmission infrastructure realized by the partnership between the European Union, GSE and KfW, working as Team Europe. Implementation of the programme will be completed through 2023-2028 years. The total investment of ENIP is EUR 270 Mio, co-financed by the Federal German Government through KfW and EBRD, including EUR 9.9 Mio grant funding from the EU Neighbourhood Investment Platform (EU NIP) implemented by KfW. Within the ENIP framework, numerous infrastructure projects are underway nationwide, encompassing the construction and expansion of 7 substations and over 540 km of power transmission lines.
