New Autotransformers Installed at Gardabani 500

In the key substation Gardabani 500, owned by the Georgian State Electriosystem, three new 330 kV, 133 MVA autotransformers have been installed.

Gardabani 500 is a key substation for the country’s energy supply. During the winter period, when the generation of hydroelectric power plants in Georgia decreases, the substation supplies 60-70% of the electricity consumption in the energy system at the expense of termal power plants and transit power lines. Therefore, these autotransformers play a crucial role in ensuring the stability and reliability of the power system.

As a result of the project, the provision of operational, proper, and synchronous operation with Azerbaijan’s electric system has been strengthened. Also, the reliability of the country’s energy system has significantly increased.
