Modern Fire Protection System Installed at "Tskaltubo 500" Substation

A modern, automatic fire extinguishing system has been installed at the new "Tskaltubo 500" substation of the Georgian State Electrosystem. The system aims to prevent damage to expensive equipment in the substation, including transformers, auto-transformers, and shunt reactors.
The automatic fire extinguishing system operates on the following principle: detectors installed near the protected equipment register temperature increases above the permissible limit. Then, it automatically transmits an alarm signal to the water sprinkler system, which ensures the cooling of the equipment and localization of the fire.
The water extinguishing system operates in automatic mode, and it can also be controlled remotely by substation personnel.
In the future, the automatic fire extinguishing system will be installed in all new substations in accordance with regulatory requirements, which are determined based on voltage and power capacity.
The obligation to install an automatic fire extinguishing system is stipulated by the country's existing technical regulations. Additionally, its installation is recommended in accordance with occupational safety regulations.
