Memorandum was Signed Between Georgian State Electrosystem, TEİAŞ and SEE CAO

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Georgian State Electrosystem, Turkey's electricity transmission corporation TEİAŞ, and the Coordinated Auction Office in South-East Europe SEE CAO. The memorandum was signed by GSE's Director General Vano Zardiashvili, TEİAŞ's General Manager Orhan Kaldırım, and SEE CAO's Executive Director Filip Marković.

Within the framework of the memorandum, future cooperation between GSE, TEİAŞ and SEE CAO was defined regarding the coordinated allocation of interconnection transmission capacity at the borders between Georgia, Turkey and Eastern European countries. This issue will be significant for both local and international traders as well as renewable energy producers. Under the agreement, the parties expressed readiness to establish a working group. The group will study the prospects of using the SEE CAO platform in Georgia and conducting joint auctions, identify potential problems for implementing the capacity allocation process and measures to overcome them. Based on the results, an action plan necessary for organizing joint auctions at the Georgia-Turkey border with GSE and TEİAŞ participation on the SEE CAO platform will be prepared.

SEE CAO represents a Montenegro-based centralized platform for cross-border transmission capacity allocation, which ensures the allocation of cross-border capacity through joint auctions between South East European countries. The platform is used by electricity transmission system operators from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Kosovo, Greece, Turkey, North Macedonia and Italy.
