Resistor Project

Georgian State Electrosystem has successfully completed the resistor project, which involves transitioning from an isolated neutral network to a grounded network using resistors.

Prior to the project implementation, under isolated network conditions, it was impossible to detect the specific damaged power transmission line, which often necessitated disconnecting all branches connected to the substation, resulting in power supply restrictions for consumers.

The installation of resistors ensures uninterrupted and reliable operation of power transmission lines connected to 6/10/35 kV network within 500/220 kV substations which is essential for the stability of the energy system and continuous electricity supply to consumers.

The new equipment is fitted with a resistor monitoring system that provides continuous control of resistor condition, which ultimately affects their long-term operation.

Georgian State Electrosystem has installed resistors using its own resources in a total of 15 substations.
