Meeting with KEC International Limited Representatives
Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Inga Pkhaladze and General Director of Georgian State Electrosystem Vano Zardiashvili met with the leadership of KEC International Limited.
The Indian company KEC is implementing the construction project of transmission lines Tskaltubo-Akhaltsikhe and Akhaltsikhe-Tortumi, which is being carried out with financial support from KfW Development Bank.
The parties discussed current issues related to the construction of transmission lines. Future plans were outlined, which should facilitate the implementation of the project.
The meeting was attended by Head of the Department of Energy Policy and Investment Projects of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Alexandre Sokhadze, KEC General Manager Shashi Bhushan Ojha, and GSE Director for Project Management Issues Rusudan Shamugia.
It was noted at the meeting that the construction project of transmission lines Tskaltubo-Akhaltsikhe and Akhaltsikhe-Tortumi is a most significant project for the development of Georgia's electricity network.Within the framework of the project, approximately 105 km of 500 kV transmission line Tskaltubo-Akhaltsikhe will be constructed, as well as a 33 km long 400 kV transmission line Akhaltsikhe-Tortumi connecting Georgia-Turkey energy systems.As a result, Georgia's electricity interconnection will be strengthened, both with Turkey's energy system and with the European unified synchronous zone.
