Working Visit to the Republic of Turkey
The Director General of Georgian State Electrosystem Vano Zardiashvili participated in a working meeting between Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvirivishvili and Turkey's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Vakhtang Tsintsadze and representatives of Turkish energy companies.
During the meeting, the parties discussed priority directions for cooperation between Georgia and Turkey in the energy sector, as well as opportunities to deepen the existing friendly and partnership relations between the two countries.
"We outlined new plans on how to develop existing power transmission lines with a joint schedule in order to increase electricity transmission capacity between the two countries. This will certainly strengthen trade opportunities between our countries, and Georgia will improve both transit and export indicators," -stated the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.
Currently, Georgia and Turkey are energetically connected by the 400 kV power transmission line Meskheti, through which the energy systems of the two countries conduct export-import operations.
